Chimneys are one of the most exposed parts of any roof. They take the full force of wind, rain, frost and temperature changes year after year — and eventually the mortar joints, brickwork, flashings and capping begin to fail. A neglected chimney is one of the most common causes of damp and water ingress in Staffordshire homes.
At Aether Roofing Solutions, we carry out every type of chimney repair — from simple repointing and flashing replacement to full chimney rebuilds and removals. All work is completed by our own team using quality materials, and every job comes with a written fixed-price quote so you know exactly what you are paying before we start.
If you have noticed damp patches near your chimney breast, crumbling mortar on the stack, or loose bricks on the ground after a storm, give us a call for a free inspection.
From minor repointing to complete chimney rebuilds — we handle it all.
Over time, mortar joints between chimney bricks erode and crack, allowing water to penetrate the stack. We rake out all failed mortar and repoint with a durable, weather-resistant mix that restores the chimney’s structural integrity and weather protection.
The lead flashings where your chimney meets the roof are a very common leak source. We remove old, cracked flashings and install new code-5 lead, properly dressed into the brickwork and sealed with a flexible pointing compound for a lasting, watertight finish.
Cracked or missing chimney pots replaced and re-bedded. We also fit rain cowls, bird guards and capping plates to prevent rain, birds and debris from entering the flue — reducing damp and improving ventilation.
When a chimney stack has deteriorated beyond repair — leaning, crumbling or structurally unsafe — we take it down and rebuild it course by course using matching bricks. The new stack is fully flashed and weatherproofed to last decades.
If your chimney is no longer in use and is causing problems, we can remove the stack down to below roof level, tile over the opening and ensure the area is fully weatherproof. This eliminates a common source of leaks and reduces maintenance costs.
We apply breathable waterproofing treatments to chimney stacks to prevent moisture absorption while still allowing the brickwork to breathe. This is an effective solution for chimneys that suffer from recurring damp penetration.
Do not ignore these warning signs — early repair prevents expensive damage.
