For emergencies, we respond the same day — often within hours. For planned work, we can usually carry out the free survey within a few days and start work within 1 to 2 weeks of your approval, depending on the time of year and our current schedule.

Do I need planning permission for a new roof?

In most cases, a like-for-like roof replacement does not require planning permission as it falls under permitted development. However, if you live in a conservation area, a listed building or are changing the roof height, shape or materials significantly, you may need approval from your local planning authority. Will you need scaffolding?

Most roofing work requires scaffolding for safe access. The cost of scaffolding is always included in our written quote — it is never an unexpected extra. For minor repairs at lower levels, we may be able to use ladders instead, which we will discuss during the survey.

What happens if it rains during the work?

We always keep your home watertight at the end of each working day using tarpaulins and temporary coverings. If heavy rain is forecast, we plan the work accordingly to ensure exposed sections are sealed before the weather arrives. Your home is never left unprotected.
